The London Borough of Sutton has a procurement spend on works, supplies and services in excess of £150M p.a. The Council procures from businesses, both large and small and voluntary sector organisations. This website is designed to assist potential suppliers, especially small businesses, to find out about Council contract opportunities and what the Council procures. Within these pages we also hope to provide you with useful information regarding the stages involved in contract tendering with the aim of clarifying the whole process.
Contracts and Tenders
The Council procures works, services and supplies through competitive tender or via existing contracts and framework agreements tendered by other public sector organisations, or consortia such as the LCSG (London Contracts and Supplies Group) or OGC (Office of Government Commerce) Buying Solutions. In the interests of efficiency and economy many common services or supplies are obtained through consortia arrangements. The London Borough of Sutton is always striving to promote the highest possible standards and levels of service.
Firms tendering to the Council are required to demonstrate they have the ability and capabilities to provide the work being tendered for. Firms are also expected to comply with the London Borough of Sutton's environmental requirements and achieve and maintain the Agreed Service Levels outlined in each individual contract. These requirements are not in place so as to exclude businesses from the tender process but rather to encourage them to improve business practices. Ultimately, this will increase the quality of service provided to the public.
