Parking Enforcement

Parking regulations on the street and in car parks are enforced by Parking Attendants who are employed by the Council’s contractor, NCP. The Council’s Street Parking Manager and his team monitor the work of the contractor and check whether we are achieving improved compliance with the restrictions.

The parking restrictions in the Borough are designed and installed by the Transportation section – Parking Services is responsible for enforcement once restrictions are in place. Parking RestrictionAny queries about proposed or existing parking restrictions should be addressed to the Transportation section of the Council.

The regulations are designed to keep the roads and pavements of Sutton clear and safe for all users. There is a London-wide ban on footway parking (that is parking on pavements, dropped kerbs and grass verges) with one or more wheels. This ban is enforced in Sutton – do not park on the footway unless there are signs and white bay markings on the pavements indicating that you may do so. You are liable to receive a penalty if you park on the footway in any other area.

If you wish to request enforcement against illegal parking (such as parking in a residents’ bay without a permit, parking on the pavement or verge outside your house, parking in a disabled parking bay without a Blue Badge, parking in a bus stop or on a school zig-zag clearway) please call NCP directly on 020 8661 9645 or 020 8661 1881.

If you wish to make a complaint about a Parking Attendant (not an appeal against a penalty) you should put your Concerns in writing to the Street Parking Manager.
