Dear VisitorIt is a great honour to be elected as Mayor of The London Borough of Sutton. I was elected Council Member for Stonecot ward in 2006 and previously was a member of the Council for Wallington South ward in the mid 1990’s.An NHS General Practitioner, I moved with my wife Jane and five children to a central Sutton Practice 15 years ago and have always admired the community spirit and neighbourliness that is evident in the Borough.Despite being a busy General Practitioner I have always enjoyed being an active member of local voluntary and social clubs such as Wallington and Carshalton Round Table, Sutton Catenians, and serving as a primary school governor. My wife, Jane, the Mayoress, is a nurseryteacher in Purley and we live locally in Carshalton Beeches.I am the first doctor to become the Mayor of Sutton and we are fortunate to have a big medical presence in the borough, so I would like to think that they can all share in this honour. My theme for the year will be Civic to Clinic. As Mayor I hope that I will be able to convey to the hard working people in all sections of our local NHS that they are very much appreciated. The Mayor’s charity for the year will be The Royal Marsden’s Wolfson Children’s and Adolescent Unit at The Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton. I hope that the people of Sutton will show their usual generosity in helping make the hospital’s vision a reality.Events NewsSunday 10th august - while there was a downpour on the Beijing Olympics; Stanley road Allotment and garden society had a fine but breezy day for their first open day attended by the mayor and mayoress.
