Construction and Property Services

The Construction and Property Services Unit is a multi-disciplinary team of professional staff providing a wide range of construction and property management consultancy services to the Council, schools and some public customers. The services provided fall into four broad categories:

a) Corporate functions: Asset management planning; property advice and services required for matching the Council changing accommodation needs with its property portfolio; property advice and services for protecting the Council’s interests in its land and property.

b) Support to all Council Service Units: Providing advice to Council Committees and management teams on construction and property matters and assisting service groups to establish their annual property maintenance and construction programmes including compliance with Council and legal/statutory requirements. Providing estates and valuation services for managing arrangements for the occupation and use of the Council’s property - through property reviews, negotiating leases and licences, and acquisition and disposal of property.

c) Procurement and Project Management: Leading in the procurement of consultants and contractors for construction work to buildings and bridges and providing a client side project management service to all service groups

d) Design Services: Providing professional construction design and contract administration services for new buildings, refurbishment work, and repairs and maintenance to buildings and bridges.
