*Biotic index: The biotic index uses a pollution sensitive index to determine the health of a waterway from the creatures that live in it. The biotic index measures the sensitivity of the water creatures to organic pollutants and other oxygen-demanding substances. Different water creatures have varying levels of tolerance or intolerance to pollution. By using this simple index we can conduct an experiment to determine which of the two ponds have a better water quality.
