STEPS ZONE Consultation

STEPS Zone 36 - Beddington Corner and Hackbridge

"STEPS" stands for Strategic Traffic and Environmental Problems Study. It is a strategy for traffic calming based on treating areas rather than individual roads.

The purpose of the scheme is to maintain and enhance the existing low traffic speed in the area and to improve safety to residents and all road users. This can be achieved through the introduction of 20mph Zone in the two main areas of the STEPS Zone 36;

Area 1 (Beddington Corner) - the area is bounded by London Rd, Goat Rd, River Wandle and Medland Close.

Area 2 (Hackbridge) - the area is bounded by London Rd, Medland Close and Hackbridge Road.

 South Sutton 20mph Zone

Traffic Calming measures are proposed for the South Sutton Zone, to control the speed, reduce the number and severity of accidents and improve safety for all road users including pedestrians, cyclists and other modes of traffic in this residential area. The present speed limit of 30 mph is not compatable with the area residential character and already has been acceded. The introduction of 20mph speed limit in Langley Park Road, Cedar Road, Cavendish Road and adjoining roads is important to improve the present situation.
