CYCLE ACTION PLAN

Cycling is a quick, healthy, affordable and non-polluting form of travel that has the potential to increase capacity on London’s busy roads. The Sutton Cycle Action Plan identifies solutions to improve Sutton’s cycling environment, encourage more people to take to their bicycles and establish a framework for sustained growth. The activities identified in the Action Plan will contribute to fulfilling the Mayor’s targets for increased cycling.

CYCLE TRAINING

London Borough of Sutton prides itself on being one of the most successful boroughs as far as cycle training is concerned. It is also one of very few that run ‘in-house’ training. We have trained over 500 children (and adults) so far this year, with a pass rate of 94%.

For full details on available cycle training courses see Road Safety

CRISP STUDIES

The London Cycle Network Plus is a London-wide network with over 900km of high demand strategic cycle routes. The quality of these routes is currently under review and boroughs have been asked to prepare Cycle Route Implementation Stakeholder Plans (CRISPs) for each section of the LCN+ network under their control. A CRISP is an enhanced feasibility study, which involves a systematic review of existing conditions and opportunities on a route taking full account of local knowledge. The Final CRISP reports provide the Council with a strategy for scheme implementation on the cycle routes, which will support scheme development and provide justification for future funding bids.

Sutton has three LCN+ routes and CRISP reports have been developed for each of these routes in conjunction with local cycling groups and other interested parties. A summary of each of the CRISP reports can be accessed below: -
