Fridge & Freezer Collection & Disposal
Fridges & freezers are classified as hazardous waste and the CFC gases (this link opens in a new window) in the sides, doors and tops must be extracted by specialist equipment before the cabinet can be recycled as scrap metal.
Fridges & freezers can be delivered free of charge to the Council’s Re-use & Recycling Centre on Kimpton Park Way, off Oldfields Road (A217) next to Tesco. All refrigeration equipment must be pre-booked into the Centre by telephoning our Call Centre on 020 8770 5070. Details of the Reuse & Recycling Centre opening times can be found under the entry for the Reuse & Recycling Centre.
The Council also provides a charged collection service for fridges and freezers at £20 per item. Commercial premises will need to obtain a quote for a special collection. This can be done by contacting our Call Centre on 020 8770 5070.
