Finding your way around the site

On the left hand side of every page is a menu which lists the sections you are in and the categories within that section. These categories can be expanded to view additional information.

To assist you with moving back and forth between the pages there is a "bread crumb" menu at the top of each page - it starts with the section you are currently in for example, 'Help'. This is useful so you can see the path you have followed to reach your destination. You can also use it to revisit previous pages, or you may prefer to use your web browser's back button.

Looking for information

There are four main ways that you can find information on this web site:

1. The home page
This is the starting point of any website and a good place to begin browsing the site for information. The web address (called URL) of Sutton Council is  www.sutton.gov.uk  and when you click on this web address, it is the homepage that will display on your screen.

Once you start to look at different parts of the site, if you want to return to the homepage, just click on Sutton Council logo (the white tree) in the top left hand corner and it will take you back to the 'home page'.

2. Search
Use the search box to type in your own word(s) to carry out a search on the website. The search box can be found in the top right hand corner of every page. It is best to use one or two key words rather than a long sentence.

3. Choose a main section
eg. Business, by clicking on the blue menu. This will expand the menu. Then click on the sub-sections that appear below.

4. A - Z
The A-Z is another method for finding information on the site. It lists all the information relating to Sutton Council services in alphabetical order. Simply click on the first letter of the service you require. For example, if you want to find information on planning applications, you may choose to click on the letter 'P' for planning.
