
Sutton's Take Part, Take Pride Summer Festival celebrated its fourth year in 2009 with over 13,500 taking part in one way or another. London Borough of Sutton has announced dates for 2010 – a week of activities and events will run from Mon 12 – Sun 18 July. The theme is try something new – whether that's by trying a sport, learning a language, volunteering, visiting a museum for the first time or getting together with different people in a new situation – you are invited to take inspiration and get involved! Join the fun of Take Part, Take Pride by putting on an event or bringing your community group to the Sutton Town Centre marketplace to promote your activities and campaigns. London Borough of Sutton will be promoting all the activities on offer to the public, with printed programmes a month beforehand, press articles and a launch event. On Sunday, an exciting competition called 'Sutton Speaks' gave local people an opportunity to put forward ideas of how they would like the council to spend £2,000 in their area. After a lively public debate in the High Street the public chose a street party as the winning idea.
