Welcome to the School Meals Catering Service in the London Borough of Sutton.
Primary and Special School Meals
Freshly prepared hot nutritious meals are provided daily by Sutton Catering - the Council's in house Catering team.

Cost of School Meals
The two-course meal is £2.10 per day this price has been held since September 2010.

Daily we provide:
- A choice of two main meals, one of which is suitable for a vegetarian diet.
- A choice of two vegetables using local produce wherever possible.
- A salad bar using local produce wherever possible.
- Organic Wholemeal French Bread.
- A pudding of the day or a choice of fresh fruit, yogurt or cheese and biscuits.
- Drinking water.
The Menu is subject to change and may vary in some kitchens where there are limited facilities.
The three weekly menu cycle meets the food and nutrient based standards for Primary & Special School Meals and is planned to take into account popular foods, the time of year and dietary considerations. A group of experienced staff plan the menus, and a nutritional software package is used to analyse them. All new recipes are tested in advance by pupils. Meals are freshly prepared and cooked daily by a team of caring catering staff.

In July 2011 Sutton Catering became the first Local Authority Caterer in London and one of only five Local Authority caterers in Britain to have been awarded this prestigious certification in recognition of their work in actively using locally sourced, seasonal, quality ingredients.
Facts
- 85% of dishes are freshly prepared
- All meat is British Farm Assured as a welfare minimum
- All fish apart from Tuna is certified to the Marine Steward Council' s (MSC) environmental standards.
- Skipjack Tuna is used which is not on the "fish to avoid list"
- Free Range eggs used
- 10% of food is organic
- Fair Trade Bananas and castor sugar
- Fresh Seasonal and local fruit and vegetables are used subject to availability
- No harmful additives or hydrogenated fats are used.
- No nut products are used.
- No salt is added to the food.
- Products containing GM foods are not knowingly used.
Good Food on the Public Plate Award
In November 2010 Sutton Catering Services were presented with this award in recognition of purchasing and promoting sustainable products, by replacing frozen vegetables with fresh, encouraging schools to compost peelings on site, only using MSC fish, ensuring menus reflect the seasons. Through this Sutton Catering are helping to protect vunerable fish stocks, sustain a market for products from animals kept in humane conditions and reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Cost of School Milk
Semi-skimmed milk is supplied to children attending primary and special schools up to year 6. The cost is £12.50 per term which is payable to the school your child attends.

Paying for School Meals and Milk
Parents are encouraged to pay on line, via Parent Pay, a web based system that allows parents/guardians to make secure payments by credit and debit card. Alternatively parents can use a Pay Point card.
