Film Sutton in 90 seconds - 16.09.09

Sutton Council and Film London are running an exciting new film competition for young people in the borough.

The challenge is to make a 90 second film about Sutton life. It'll be about what excites and inspires young people on or it could be about what they as a young person would like to see in the borough. The competition is open to people aged 25 and under living in Sutton. This competition is about getting the voices of young people heard.

The winner for Best Film will get a cash prize of £300 – funded by Film London. And as an added incentive, if your film wins it will be entered into Film London Best of Borough Film Awards (aka the BoBs) which will pit the best films from the competing boroughs against each other.

The competition will be launched on 3 October at the 'Showcase Showdown' event in Sutton High Street which will highlight the huge variety of activities there are for young people locally. The Territorial Army, Sutton Council's Youth Service, football clubs and other local sports clubs are amongst those that have signed up to show off their activities with demonstrations in Sutton High Street.

Experts from Film London will be at the event to give hints and tips to Sutton's young filmmakers such as how to animate film and do voxpops on your mobile phone or digital camera, and edit them on your laptop.

Film London will also be hosting a workshop in October for interested young people to introduce them to award-winning film makers who can inspire them to make a great film.

This is your chance to shine so come and join us on October 3 at 'Showcase Showdown' and we'll introduce you to the world of film. You never know we may discover the next Danny Boyle here in Sutton."

The competition is part of Film London's London Borough Film Fund Challenge.

Film London is the capital's film and media agency. It sustains, promotes and develops London as a major international film making and film cultural capital.
