Swimming Clubs

There are a number of swimming clubs who operate within the borough, all are based at Cheam Leisure Centre and cater for a wide ranges of abilities/needs.

There are two clubs who offer competitive pathways, these are: -

 

 Sutton and Cheam Swimming Club

 

Sutton and Cheam Swimming Club is a friendly competitive club catering for boys and girls aged 5 upwards. The club provides training for swimmers of all abilities to County and national Championships standard. The emphasis is on competition and the club participates in friendly and league galas throughout the year.

 

The club is also well known for its excellence in water polo, running teams from under 12 to the national League and veteran sides, producing current members of the senior and junior Great Britain teams as well as many county and regional players.

Cheam Marlins Swimming Club

 

Cheam Marlins Swimming Club is a competitive Swimming Club for both girls and boys. The club encourages swimmers to improve their strokes and speed and to participate in competitive swimming at a level appropriate to their ability.  The club provides sessions for all abilities from teaching groups to training sessions for County and National swimmers.

 

Swimming sessions are as follows:-

Tuesday 7.00 pm -10.00 pm at Cheam Leisure Centre

Friday    6.30 pm - 7.30 pm at Cheam Leisure Centre

Masters swimmers are welcome.

There are two non-competitive clubs within the borough who offer opportunities to train on a regular basis but not compete (except in fun galas), these are: -

 

CAWPRA Swimming Club

 

CAWPRA is a friendly club that teaches and coaches youngsters from 5 to 16+ years on a Sunday evening at Cheam Leisure Centre from 6.30pm onwards. The emphasis is on learning and improving using the ASA Swimming Plan. Subscriptions are competitively priced.  Adults can swim in a child free zone from 7.45 pm to 8.30 pm on Sunday.

Dolphin Swimming Club

 

Dolphin teaches beginners to swim and improves technique for existing swimmers as well as building up stamina. The club meets at Cheam Leisure Centre on a Friday evening from 7.30 pm - 10.00 pm.

Mixed groups are taught from the ages of 6 - 18 years old.

Adults are welcome to swim between 9.30 pm and 10.00 pm.

There is one club who offer fitness opportunities and courses for individuals aged fourteen and above.

 

Sutton Life Saving Club

 

SLS has been operating in Sutton for 30 years.  They meet at Cheam Leisure

Centre on a Monday from 8.00 pm & offer training for the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Bronze Medallion and RLSS Life Support (Resuscitation) schemes and other RLSS awards. They can often tailor courses to individual group requirements. In addition they run a lively adult swim fitness classes, which caters for a broad ability range of swimmers.
