Summer sees smoking restrictions introduced in our workplaces, restaurants and bars. As a former smoker, I really welcome this move to make our environment healthier.

Our Smarter Travel Plans are also health conscious. We will see travel and fitness combine in July, with a major cycling event celebrating the region’s top talent and the final stage of the Tour de France.

The theme of this magazine is community safety and we take a look at what the Safer Sutton Partnership is doing to keep the borough safe – and also at simple measures you can take to prevent becoming a victim of crime.

I must thank you all for once again giving Take Part, Take Pride such fantastic support. Improving the borough’s environment inspires confidence in our community and is a great way of bringing people together.

Our special climate change focus highlights the need to protect our planet as much as we can.
