Sutton youth party in silence 10.06.10
Young people from across Sutton danced in silence at a half term event in Beddington Park.
Sutton Youth Services' third annual Party in the Park event on 4 June included a 'silent rave' - where music is played through headphones given to each participant.
125 young people attended the event, which included DJ sets and competitions for young people to showcase their music and dance skills. There was also a special street dance display by DXT – Dance Extreme Group.
The free event for 13 – 19 year olds also promoted the other activities and support available for young people as well as sexual health information and guidance.
Dave Callaghan, Executive Member for Children, Families and Youth Services on Sutton Council, said: "This was a great event for young people across the borough and must be the first time a silent rave has been held in Beddington Park.
"As well as being really good fun, the evening was also an opportunity for young people to get more information on the advice and guidance Sutton Youth Services can provide."
Other activities put on for teenagers during half term included football, DJ and music workshops.
