Bridge closure cancelled

The planned closure ofLondon Road in Hackbridge from 11pm on Saturday 4 December until 6am Sunday 5 December has been postponed.

The closure had been scheduled to allow resurfacing, the restoration of road markings and traffic flow work to take place, however due to the poor weather this is no longer possible.

Sutton Council is now looking at alternative dates for the closure later in the month. Contractors working on the bridge are confident that the postponement will not delay the completion of the bridge, which is due to open at Christmas.

The bridge replacement work, which is being funded by Transport for London, comes after extensive consultation with local residents.
