New show filmed at Sutton Arena 22.12.10
Sutton's reputation as a top notch filming location is continuing to grow, with news that a new celebrity sports game show is being filmed in Sutton Arena.
Famous and Fearless is a new show in which celebrities contestants take each other on in a series of extreme urban sports, including dirt buggy racing, street luge and monster truck driving.
Sutton Arena will be used by the female celebrities; double gold medal winner Dame Kelly Holmes, former Atomic Kitten Jenny Frost, EastEnders actor Kacey Ainsworth and Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn, to train before they take each other on live on air.
This is the latest in a long line of exiting productions to be filmed in the borough, including prime time hits such as The Apprentice and Peep Show as well as a number of new television dramas. Sutton has even been attracting interest from Hollywood, with location managers responsible for X-Men 4 and Pirates of the Caribbean 4 inquiring about filming.
Cllr Graham Tope, Executive Member for Community Safety, Leisure and Libraries on Sutton Council: "Sutton is such a diverse area, with a thriving High Street and different types of housing, as well as its first rate parks and leisure facilities. It's great that film and television crews are continuing to recognise this.
"The increase in filming will give Sutton a real boost economically as film crews spend money in the local area."
The show, hosted by Claire Balding and Chris Evans, will air on Channel 4 every night between 2 and 7 January. The live scenes will be filmed in Liverpool.
