Planned road closures in Worcester Park 10.01.11
Sutton Council has insisted on a co-ordinated response to essential road works in a bid to keep disruption to a minimum.
The vital roadworks, which are due to start on 10 January and run for eight to 12 weeks, will mean the temporary closure of some roads and pavements around Green Lane, Worcester Park.
As well as Sutton Council's street improvements scheme, work will be carried out to replace outdated gas and water mains.
The work has been planned after extensive meetings between representatives from the groups responsible for carrying out the works, in order to minimise disruption.
Cllr Simon Wales, Executive Member for Communities, Transport and Voluntary Sector on Sutton Council said: "There is nothing worse than road works finishing and then another company coming along and digging up the road again. For this project we have insisted that it is all done in one go.
"I apologise to residents for any disruption that these improvements will cause. They are essential for keeping the roads, pavements and gas and water infrastructures safe for members of the local community."
Further information can be found on posters, online and residents in affected roads have been sent letters detailing the closures.
