Funding is available to community groups and local artists to encourage Sutton residents of all ages to get involved in the area's vibrant cultural scene.  They will be awarded to innovative and imaginative proposals which will be accessible to all members of the community.  Grants are worth up to £500, but up to three applicants could be awarded up to £1000 for exceptional proposals.

The festival, which is part of the Sutton Council's Take Part Take Pride series of summer events, is back for its fifth year and will run from 27 May to 12 June 2011.

It will take place in libraries, theatres and heritage sites across the borough, and will showcase the talent of local artists and celebrate the diverse community groups that make up Sutton.

Cllr Graham Tope, Executive Member for Community Safety, Leisure and Libraries on Sutton Council, said: "The Imagine Festival is your chance to get involved in the fantastic arts and cultural scene that we have here in Sutton.

"The grants scheme is open to individuals and community groups, so if you have an idea then get in touch and see if we can help to make it happen."

All applications must be received by 5pm on Monday 31 January 2011.
