Official inspection praises 'outstanding features' at Carshalton High 01.02.11
Ofsted has praised the 'outstanding features' at Carshalton High School for Girls.
A new report outlines the vast improvements that the school has made in recent years and describes it as a 'good and strongly improving' school.
Care, guidance and support is graded as 'outstanding' with the report highlighting that "students' individual circumstances and needs are well known to staff and any support required is provided promptly and effectively. This is reflected in the good behaviour shown and the degree of pride students have in their school."
The report also praises the quality of the teaching across the school and the curriculum, which it states 'meets the needs of students very well'.
The sixth form is judged as good with outstanding care, guidance and support; with the result that the good quality provision is leading to an increase in the number of students applying for places in year 12.
The high quality leadership across the school is cited as being directly responsible for driving and securing the improvements made, stating that the "the leadership provided by the head teacher and her senior team is outstanding and the quality of leadership across the school is good overall."
Head teacher Vivien Jones said: "We are absolutely delighted with the report. The Inspectors have clearly recognised and praised the journey of improvement the school has made in recent years."
Cllr Kirsty Jerome, Executive Member for Education and Schools at Sutton Council, said: "I would like to congratulate all the staff and pupils at Carshalton High School on this impressive Ofsted report.
"Sutton's schools are among the best in the country and continue to strive for the very best for their pupils."
