Week of free events for Sutton's Young People 14.02.11
A full week of free events is being held to give Sutton's young people chances to keep busy during half-term.
The week will kick off on next Friday (18 February) with the Party in the Park, a mini-festival in St Helier Open Space. The night will feature a mix of music from DJs at Youth FM, the chance for those attending to perform music or dance, and a workshop on board the URBIE youth bus which will focus on how to stop smoking.
Other half term events during the week, organised by Sutton Youth Service, are set to include Chinese New Year celebrations, an afternoon of healthy lifestyle activities at The Quad Youth Centre, the chance to get involved in youth politics, including a meeting with Sutton's Mayor , Youth FM and 'taster sessions' for manicuring, hair styling, plumbing and electrics.
Cllr Dave Callaghan, Executive Member for Children, Families and Youth Services on Sutton Council, said: "As well as giving young people a space to relax and have fun after a busy first half of the term, this is a chance to try out some of the great things there are for teenagers to do in Sutton.
"There's a whole range of activities to take part in that go on across the year, so come down to an event or go online to find out more about what you could do."
All events are free and open to young people aged 13-19. To find out more information or to book a place, call the youth office on 020 8404 1991, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or book online at www.suttonyouth.org
