Sutton in the running for Top Revenue Gong - 17.08.09
Sutton Council is one of four finalists for the prestigious title of 'Revenues Team of the Year.'
The excellent performance and high quality customer service of Sutton Council's Revenues Team is being recognised by a panel of industry experts.
The Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuations performance awards will be held on 1 October 2009.
The team have an excellent performance record. This year, Sutton came second in London for the overall collection of Council Tax at 98.2%; an impressive result given the current economic climate.
Sutton's Revenue and Benefits Team also play an important role in the council's Ten Point Economic Recovery plan to help residents and businesses through the recession. Over 1,330 local businesses have signed up to their successful Small Business Rate Relief campaign, securing £365,000 in relief.
Customer service is also excellent. The team have exceeded their targets for responding to customer correspondence, on average 80% within 14 days, achieving 96% for Council Tax and 97% for Business Rates letters.
