Over the five weeks, young people aged 11 to 19, had the opportunity to learn new skills on a wide variety of free courses, including, electrics, plumbing, water sports, hairdressing, making a music video, cookery, sign language, first aid, kayaking and even free running.

One student who went on a textile course said: "I've enjoyed myself and I'm happy with the things I've made.  I really enjoyed it. I would come after school.  Good how to learn about careers in this. It was great!"

Another, on the Ready Steady Cook course, said: "This is a perfect way to spend your holidays. "

Cllr Tony Brett Young, Executive Member for Young People says: "I'm delighted so many young people took up the opportunity to sign up for this year's Summer Uni. As well as learning new skills, many friendships were formed and experiences shared. Thank you to everyone that took part.  We've had great feedback from parents and children."

Summer Uni ends on Friday 28 August and is run by Sutton Council's Youth Service.
