Around the world in 80 flavours - 12.11.09

Spicy Caribbean Jerk Chicken will be up against Vietnamese crafts and traditional English ales in a spectacular international line up for the Sutton World Market next week.

In Sutton High Street from the 18 to the 22 November, the market promises a cosmopolitan mix of food, crafts, and design from across the globe.

The food alone will encompass the Caribbean, Spain, France, Turkey, Italy and Peru with plenty of opportunity to grab a snack or try something new. A wide range of traditional crafts will also be on sale from as far afield as Thailand, Vietnam, India and South America.

Much of the crafts will be Fairtrade certified with British businesses working in partnership with the producers to offer the best price for their work. Many of the hand crafted stone, wood or textile products would make ideal Christmas presents for those wishing to beat the Christmas crowds and get their presents in early.

Cllr Lyn Gleeson, Executive Member for Economic Renewal said,

"The Sutton World Market is a fantastic opportunity to take your taste buds on an international odyssey or find that unique gift for Christmas.

"It seems like there's something here from every corner of the globe and I'm glad to see the best of British up there amongst it. "

The World Market is the first of a series of markets coming to Sutton during the festive period and will be followed by a farmers market on the 28th and a Christmas crafts market in December.
