Lottery exhibition comes to Sutton Library - 14.12.09
A new exhibition opens in Sutton Library today (14 December) in a bid to encourage more organisations in Sutton to bid for lottery funding.
The display celebrates 15 years of the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and showcases the range of projects it has supported across the UK as well as what funding is available.
There have traditionally been fewer funding applications from groups in Sutton than other areas and the HLF is staging the exhibition to encourage and support potential applicants through the process.
Head of the HLF, Sue Bowers will speak at a special reception on Tuesday 12 January for local organisations who are thinking of putting in a bid. Representatives from the Fund will be on hand to talk to people and local groups who have successfully made funding applications will also be present to share their experience.
The exhibition runs until Friday 15 January in the Europa Gallery.
Cllr Graham Tope, Executive Member for Libraries and Leisure on Sutton Council, said:
"We want more of Sutton's groups to tap into this excellent resource and bid for funding that will help expand the range of cultural opportunities we offer in Sutton.
"For many years the council has made good use of the fund, with successful bids for arts projects and nature promotion.
"I urge people to come along to the exhibition and hope to see a good turnout of community groups at the reception on 12 January."
