Event Ideas and Information

- How can I take part?
There are two ways to take part – by hosting your own local event or by going along to and taking part in one of the events already taking place around the Borough.
- What shall I do to run my own event?
You need to think of an idea, give the event a name and choose a date – between 7-13 July. Then let us know what you are doing so we can put it in the event diary on our website and help you to publicise it.
- What event could I do?
Take Part Take Pride celebrates the environment, the community and the diversity of Sutton. You can do anything you like that helps to show how we can all enjoy and get more from where we live if we work together and look after the place and the people who share it.
Here’s a few ideas to get you thinking…. · Hold a poetry or art event · An Open Day at your office, venue, garden · Have a tea party – try a Fairtrade event · Hold a garden party · Help people in need to plant up window boxes or their garden · Create a mural reflecting what’s great about where you live · Set up an anti-litter poster competition · Do up a faded building · Clear up and improve a neglected open space · ‘Bring A Dish’ lunch party with food from different countries · Hold a swap-shop for people to get rid of things they don’t want any more · Run a karaoke event · Do a challenge – get different companies or services to a tug of war or sports day · Scrapheap challenge – get people to create an installation from old office equipment, tin cans, old items from the garden shed · Set up a litter-collecting area · A graffiti wall – turn graffiti in to art · A food festival · A salsa demonstration and party · Dance display or drumming workshop
Don’t forget – you don’t have to do all the work yourself, Take Part Take Pride is about everyone helping each other, so try to get lots of other people involved. And if there’s something you’re already planning, make it part of Take Part Take Pride!
