Applying for junior school (2022)

Information on applying for junior school to start in September 2022 for children born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015.

Any parent who wishes their child to transfer to a Junior school in September 2022 must apply before 15 January 2022. An application must be completed even if a child is at an attached Infants' school.

You can start your online application from 1st September 2021 and have until 15 January 2022 to apply. Offer day will be 19 April 2022.

Before you apply we strongly advise that you:

  • Read the Transfer to Junior Guidance Booklet explaining the application process.
  • Watch our How to Apply Online video
  • Make sure you check the Key Dates on the next page
  • Contact schools to check transport routes or to arrange a visit to hear from staff about the school achievements and plans for the future and to check the school facilities.
  • If you live within the London Borough of Sutton you can use the Primary School Distance Checker to find out how far away the schools you are interested in applying to (including schools in Sutton and some in Kingston, Croydon, Merton and Surrey) are from your address.

Supplementary Forms

Some schools may also require you to complete a supplementary form.

The online application will advise you if this is the case, or for more details visit our admission arrangements information.

You are advised to contact the schools to see if this will be necessary. In Sutton, the schools which require a supplementary form are Holy Trinity CofE Junior School, St Mary’s Catholic Junior School and The Federation of St Elphege’s Catholic Junior School. Please pay particular attention to the closing date and return address for Supplementary Forms.
