Beech Tree Place Regeneration

On 2 March 2022 the Council’s Planning Committee resolved to grant planning consent for the regeneration proposals for Beech Tree Place. Councillors praised the extensive engagement undertaken with residents.

The Council, its architects HTA Design LLP, and the wider design team have been engaging with existing residents and local stakeholders. Together they develop detailed plans for the future of Beech Tree Place. A planning application was submitted in November 2021.

The Council’s regeneration of Beech Tree Place will create homes that are:

  • high quality
  • sustainable, and
  • 100% affordable

These will be for both existing and new residents in a multi-generational community.

Phased redevelopment

Phased redevelopment will provide:

  • new homes for existing residents within Phase 1,
  • additional mixed tenure homes created for the wider community in the proceeding phase

A series of four elegantly detailed mansion blocks will house 92 homes, which include 1 and 2 bedroom flats along with 3 bedroom maisonettes.

What we aim to do

We aim to provide a green setting for this town centre location including:

  • biodiverse landscaped public realm
  • residents’ community gardens with play spaces
  • additional tree planting

A section of St Nicholas Way will be transformed with traffic calming and new street trees. All homes will be designed to incorporate exemplar sustainability standards.

Phase 1 construction works are due to commence on site by September 2022.
