Volunteering is a great way to help improve the environment locally in Sutton. If you want to help (no matter what you can do or how little time you have), you can do this by getting in touch with one of the organisations below.

Sutton Community Environment Champions

  • Do you want to support environmental activity in the borough? Looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint? Launched in November 2021, Sutton Community Champions brings together anyone locally who is interested in improving their environment and their own way of living. With opportunities for learning and collaboration, the group helps connect with other residents and works to bring new environmental projects and initiatives to the borough. Sutton Council Volunteer Opportunities

  • You can join Sutton Tree Wardens or local gardening groups that are supported by our Parks team. Email dawn.fielding@sutton.gov.uk for more information.

  •  Volunteer with Sutton Nature Conservation Volunteers who work with our Biodiversity team to protect and enhance the borough’s biodiversity and wildlife.

Charities and Voluntary organisations

  • Have you ever thought about how your local park could be improved, if so,  consider joining the local ‘friends of’ group for one of the boroughs many parks.

  • The South East Rivers Trust is restoring the River Wandle. Take part in one of their many volunteer days held throughout the year. 

  • Volunteering opportunities are available at the Carshalton based charity EcoLocal throughout the year which cover a wide range of activities and interests such as helping steward events, gardening, or office admin support. 

  • Sutton Community Farm in Wallington, have a number of volunteer opportunities such as Crop Production, Veg Box Packing, helping at events, site maintenance and biodiversity

  • Join the Sutton Fairtrade Group to support local Fairtrade activity and Sutton's work as a Fairtrade borough. 

  • Register with the Volunteer Centre Sutton and check their website for volunteer opportunities. 

  • The National Trust often need volunteers in different environmental roles. Their website has a volunteering search tool to find local opportunities. Properties near to Sutton include Morden Hall Park, Polesden Lacey and Ham House.  

  • Surrey Wildlife Trust manages Wilderness Island. See their /website for volunteering opportunities in and near to Sutton.
