Seeking views of parent carers of young people with SEND

Sutton Council is seeking the views of parent carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), to help shape the future of services for the young Sutton SEND community through its parent carer forum service.

Although the Council contributes to the running costs of the Sutton Parent Carer Forum, it is independent of the Council. The forum is an organised group of parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities who all have experience of being parent carers. The forum are able to help and to listen, along with working in a solution-focused way to make sure that services in their area meet the needs of disabled children and their families.

They do this by gathering the views of local families and then working in partnership with the Council, education settings such as schools and colleges, health and other providers to highlight where local services, processes and commissioners are working well, or challenge when changes or improvements may need to be made.

The Council is asking for the views of parent carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), via a survey, that will help shape our way ahead for when the current service contract for the forum comes to an end later this year.

The survey asks parent carers if they would like to be involved in in-depth discussions taking place over the summer on helping to shape the new service.

Register your interest in wanting to help shape the new service by completing the survey now. which closes on Friday 19 August.
