Fancy a cuppa?  Sometimes reaching out to someone with those three words can make a big difference.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, the theme is loneliness - something we all can experience ‌at some time in our lives. When loneliness is severe or lasts a long time, it can negatively affect our mental health.

The Mental Health Foundation carried out a study of loneliness and mental health in the UK that discovered feelings of loneliness increased rapidly during the first Covid-19 pandemic.

Social distancing and lockdowns meant many people struggled with feeling isolated and lonely. Although those restrictions have ended, the feelings continue for many people.

In Sutton, the council is working with voluntary and community groups to help tackle loneliness, including the Sutton Mental Health Foundation.

Sometimes, a simple friendly action can help lift someone out of loneliness. If we do this regularly, we can all help to lift each other up.
