Assessing which children with special educational needs will get an EHC Plan
For most children, their mainstream setting will be able to meet all of their special educational needs. That is why it is important for the parents to meet the SENCO to discuss their child’s SEN before requesting a statutory assessment. It may be helpful to involve other professionals at that meeting if they have already been providing support to the child. From September 2014, information about provision available for children and young people with SEND will be published in Sutton’s Local Offer.
