Transport Assessments and Travel Plans SPD
Transport Assessments and Travel Plans are essential tools in assessing and reducing the environmental impacts of a development and encouraging the use of sustainable transport.
What are they?
- Transport Assessments identify the existing and possible future transport situation at a proposed site and ways to reduce any negative impacts;
- Travels Plans identify ways to reduce reliance on cars and encourage more walking, cycling, use of public transport and other sustainable transport.
This document provides:
- details of when Transport Assessments and Travel Plans will be required as part of a planning application;
- guidance on their preparation and content.
The Supplementary Planning Document was adopted on 26 June 2008 following public consultation between 25 September 2007 and 6 November 2007. It forms part of Sutton's Local Development Framework.
