Smarter Travel Sutton
Smarter Travel Sutton is a project that will help us make our Borough better by changing the types of transport we use.
Sutton Council has been awarded funding for two projects from the Mayor of London's 'Outer London Fund'. The projects will enhance and strengthen Worcester Park and North Cheam, and Hackbridge town centres.
The Council has begun a collaborative project in North Cheam and Worcester Park, steered by Councillors and community stakeholders. £1.9m will be spent on making improvements to the public realm and supporting the development and growth of businesses in the town centres, old and new.
The project will build on strengths and resolve issues - guided by the ideas and issues raised by the communities in these centres.
A project in Hackbridge is led by the local charity BioRegional in partnership with the Council. £1.2m will be spent helping local businesses to grow, improving sustainable transport links to the centre, and further improving the environmental sustainability of the centre.
The project forms part of the Hackbridge Project which works to make Hackbridge the UK's first sustainable suburb.
Wallington Town Centre Improvements
There have also been improvement works in Wallington Town Centre which were completed in June 2011. A survey has been carried out to find out what people thought of these works and key findings will be posted soon.
