Activities for Children

Are you aged between 4 and 12 years old? Do you want to have fun and find out fascinating facts about nature? A huge variety of exciting activities from art to pond dipping means there is something for everyone to enjoy.

What You Can Do At Sutton Ecology Centre

During most school holidays we have a wide range of activities for children to take part in: on Tuesdays and Thursdays we run sessions for 4-7 yr olds; on Wednesdays we run sessions for 8-12 yr olds; Thursday afternoon sessions are set aside for children with special needs and their siblings.  These sessions are all based around the environment and involve a mixture of going out to discover things in our nature reserve, playing games and making crafts.  We also run occasional weekend events for families and adults.  Go to our Events page to discover up to date listings of all our activities.

Adults must accompany children under 8yrs old, and a parent or guardian must sign a consent form to leave any child 8yrs or older with us.

Just pop in on a Monday or Friday during school holidays and borrow our pond dipping equipment to discover the creatures living in our pond.  There is a deposit required of £5 per set.

The grounds are open from 10am until 4pm Monday to Saturday, so come along and discover the grounds for yourself. Pick up a free trail leaflet from our leaflet dispenser outside the Old Rectory, off Festival Walk.  Please note that although the grounds are open on Saturdays, there are no staff available and the Old Rectory is closed.

If you are 16 or over, find out about volunteering opportunities.

If you would like to come with your school, let them know we run school trip session during term time.  Go to our schools page to find out our full schools programme.
