Green Wheeled Bin Collection
Find out what you can & can't put in your Green Wheeled Bin & about Bank Holiday Collections
The Council provides each house in the borough with a free green wheeled bin (used for recyclable waste only), which is collected fortnightly (on the same day as your brown bin collection but on alternate weeks).
To check which week your recycling is collected please use the 'My Local Services' facility on the right hand side of this webpage.
Getting a larger bin
Households can have a 140 or a 240 litre wheeled bin. If you would like to replace a small bin for a large one, please use our online request form below.
As glass bottles and jars can now be recycled in your green wheeled bin, we will no longer empty your blue bin.
You are welcome to keep the blue bin for your own use, but if you'd like it taken away, please let us know as we can reuse it for other purposes such as recycling in council buildings and schools.
If you need additional space for recycling because you fill your green bin regularly please call Customer Services to arrange for an additional green bin to be delivered.
- Bank Holiday Collections: May and August Bank Holiday Mondays are normal collection days for brown and green wheeled bin services. Any changes to other public holidays will be noted on our website or advertised in the local press when they arise or you can contact our Call Centre between 9am & 5pm, Mon to Fri on 020 8770 5000 for more details.
- Recycling needs to be visibly placed at the edge of your property before 6am and until 8.30pm on your bin collection day.
- Missed Collections need to be reported by the following day. Our aim is to collect the missed waste within 2 days (not including Sundays). Please make sure your bin is left outside for collection
Residents who live in areas where wheeled bins are impractical can use clear sacks for their recyclables. Please ask our Customer Services for details.
