Work experience

What it involves

A work placement will give you a great chance to find out about the “world of work”, learn some job specific skills and gain insight into a particular job or industry sector.

Work experience placements are usually a block of between 5-10 days with an employer.

  • You will be able to develop and use some of the employability skills, such as team work, time management, good communication and problem solving that all employers expect young people to have.
  • In a number of cases, a successful work placement can lead to part-time or full-time work, an offer of apprenticeship or training.
In all cases you will be able to use your work placement to help with applications and interviews.
