There are three areas of legislation which give you specific rights of access to information held by us. These are:
- Freedom of Information Act 200 (FOI)
- Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR)
- Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA)
Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
You may make a request to us, under the Freedom of Information Act or the Environmental Information Regulations, to access information we hold. However, if the information is already public we are not obliged to deal with your request but we will try and direct you to where the information is held.
So, before making any request to us for information, please check our Publication Scheme and our website for the information that you seek.
The Data Protection Act
You may make a request to us for information which is personal and about you under the Data Protection Act, it's called a Subject access request (SAR).
