Sutton is very fortunate to have one of the highest densities of trees per hectare compared to other London Boroughs; in total there are more than 190,000.
Of these, about 135,000 (70%) are privately owned trees mainly growing in our resident’s gardens. The London Borough of Sutton owns the rest, approximately 21,500 street trees and 33,000 trees in parks and other open spaces (not including the trees in woodland areas and the 2,400 trees situated in school grounds).
