Sustainability Strategy Review 2018
Reviewing our sustainability strategy
We are currently reviewing our sustainability strategy, due to be published in April 2019. This page updates you on the latest progress and how you can get involved.
Why we are reviewing our sustainability strategy
Our current strategy, published in 2009, had milestone targets for 2017-18. Now this deadline has passed we are reviewing what has worked and what hasn't, as well as what has changed in the years since we published it.
What we have done so far
In February and March 2018, we released an online survey for local people and organisations to give their views on what is important about sustainability in the borough. Over 500 people took part - thank you to all those who commented. The results of this can be found in the summary of the sustainability survey.
The findings from the survey and work with our partners has been used to draft a new sustainability strategy. The draft strategy sets out the borough's ambitions to improve air quality, create a greener borough, reduce energy use, minimise waste and create a circular economy, and adapt to the effects of climate change. We published our draft sustainability strategy for an eight week counsultation which closed on 30 September 2018. The draft strategy and draft action plans can be viewed below:
- Sustainability strategy - draft
- Greening Sutton - draft action plan
- Reducing Sutton's energy use - draft action plan
- Creating a circular economy - draft action plan
- Adapting to climate change - draft action plan
During the summer we also worked with the voluntary sector to find out the views of people who don't normally complete online surveys.
