Sutton Parks and Lockdown Competition Terms and Conditions

Competition rules

  • Entries must be submitted to
  • Entries should be attached as a Word or Google Doc.
  • Entries must include your name, name of your poem and contact details including address and telephone number.
  • The closing date is 31st December 2020. After this date, no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
  • The theme of the poems is on ‘parks and lockdowns’.
  • You may send up to one entry per person.
  • There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
  • The competition is open to all residents of Sutton, except those responsible for the organising and judging of the competition.
  • Prizes are £50 for 1st place only. One prize per age group. There are three age groups: Under 12 / 12-17 / Adults 18+
  • Your entry must be original, in English, unpublished and unproduced, not accepted by any other publisher or producer at the time of submission. 
  • Translations of anyone else’s work are not eligible. Copyright remains with the writer.
  • Entries may be published by the London Borough of Sutton on their website, newsletter and other publications, on relevant social media platforms and in the park information boards.
  • The winner will be chosen by judges appointed by the promoter. Criteria when judging submissions will include originality, relevance to the theme and technique.
  • The promoter is Sutton Council, they will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected/is delivered.
  • The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
  • The winner will be notified by email within 28 days of the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
  • The winner agrees to the use of his/her name in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
  • By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
