About the Local Development Framework
The council’s adopted spatial strategy and planning policy framework for managing the future growth and development of the borough is called the Local Development Framework (LDF). Sutton’s LDF consists of the following documents.

The London Plan
The Mayor of London's spatial planning document for Greater London, including the London Borough of Sutton

Core Strategy
Sutton's Core Strategy sets out a long-term vision, spatial strategy and core policies for shaping the borough's future development up to 2024. The Core Strategy was adopted in 2009.

Site Development Policies DPD
Sutton's Site Development Policies DPD sets out development management policies against which planning applications are considered and allocates sites for future development. The Site Development Policies DPD was adopted in 2012.

South London Waste Plan DPD
The joint South London Waste Plan covers the London Boroughs of Sutton, Croydon, Kingston and Merton.
It includes policies for deciding planning applications for waste facilities, safeguards existing sites and identifies locations where waste facilities may be suitable. The South London Waste Plan was adopted in 2012.

Statement of Community Involvement
Sutton's Statement of Community Involvement sets out how the council will engage with the community when preparing planning policies and making planning decisions. The Statement of Community Involvement was adopted in 2014.

Local Development Scheme
Sutton's Local Development Scheme sets out the council's programme for preparing the new Local Plan. The Local Development Scheme was adopted in 2014.
