I have a marriage / civil partnership ceremony booked in the next few weeks. Will it still go ahead?

Unfortunately all ceremonies taking place before 30th June 2020 have been postponed. If this changes, we will contact you. Please get in touch by emailing us at register.office@sutton.gov.uk. Please note we are experiencing a high volume or calls and emails at the moment, so it may take longer than usual to respond to you. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. 

 

I need to book a Citizenship Ceremony. Are they still available?

There are no future ceremonies scheduled until further notice. You must normally book the ceremony within three months of being sent the invatation from the Home Office. However, due to current circumstances we have extended this perios to six months. We advise you to check our website for further updates www.sutton.gov.uk and search for Citizenship & Nationality. 
 

Is my birth, death or notice of marriage or civil partnership appointment still going ahead?

We are currently running a reduced service which is for the registration of deaths only. Please call a member of the team on 0208 770 6790. 


How to register a death?

If you need to register a death the Register Office will receive electronically the paperwork required from the Hospital or doctor.

A Registrar will then contact you to register over the phone.

 

What happens if I cannot register a death within 5 days?

Call our office on 0208 770 6790 to make us aware of your situation. 

 

What happens if I don’t register the birth of my baby within 42 days?

Contact us via email at register.office@sutton.gov.uk explaining your situation with a telephone number and we will call you back to help find a solution. 

 

Can I still come in person and order a birth, death or marriage certificate?

Please do not come into the register office. Please go online to https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate
