NCS terms and conditions
Following your booking you will be sent details of your booking time and date. You will receive a receipt and reference number for your records.
This service is designed to make sure that your form is correctly filled in, your application is validly submitted and that the unwaivable requirements for citizenship are met. The unwaivable requirements are, that the applicant was physically present in the UK at the start of the qualifying period, and that they have confirmed that they have Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or are not subject to any time restrictions on their stay in the UK when they apply. Unfortunately, we are not able to check if an applicant has ILR as we do not have access to the Home Office systems, we can only check that you have stated that you have ILR on your application form.
You must satisfy yourself that you meet this or other essential criteria if you are an EEA national.
Our checking officers are trained and registered to check and send your application. During the appointment the checking officer will:
- Provide you with the name and contact details of the checking officer who has provided your service
- photocopy and certify your passport and other valuable documents so these remain in your possession and then
- send your application and correct fee to the Home Office by special delivery post the next working day unless otherwise specified
You are required to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment and inform the receptionist that you have arrived.
If you are late you will need to re-book a new appointment and pay the applicable fee.
Personal attendance is required at the appointment. You cannot send someone on your behalf. Minors do not need to attend. You will need to bring your completed application form and all of your original documents. Please see Form AN for detailed guidance on the documents required. The Nationality Checking Service can last up to 30 minutes per single applicant.
Please read the attached Sutton Council Cancellation Policy which was explained and agreed upon before the appointment was booked.
The local authority complaints procedure is available on the Sutton website. Complaints may be made to the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner at any time during the Nationality Checking procedure.
