Fly tipping

What is fly tipping?

Fly tips can vary greatly in size, from a few rubbish bags of general household waste to several truck loads of commercial building waste.  We know from our residents’ surveys that fly tipping is something that concerns local people as it can make a local area look ugly and run down.  It’s also extremely costly - we spend over £100,000 every year clearing up fly tips.  That’s money that could be invested in local services.

Fly-tipping is a serious criminal offence for which the perpetrators can be prosecuted. The courts have various powers available to them to tackle fly-tipping, including imprisonment, substantial fines of up to £50,000, orders to pay costs and an order to deprive rights to a vehicle used to commit the offence.

There's absolutely no excuse for fly tipping.  If you need to dispose of rubbish that is not taken away by our waste and recycling collection service, then you should take it to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre at Kimpton Park Way or make use of the various bulky waste and special collection services we offer.
