In October 2019 Public Voice was appointed as the Independent Tenant and Homeowner Adviser (ITHA) for Beech Tree Place. This followed a selection competition carried out in partnership with residents.
The ITHA is a specialist adviser funded by the Council. They will provide:
- independent advice and support to residents, and
- represent their views and interests
Why we appoint an ITHA
It is important that we appoint an ITHA, as they:
- help residents to be actively involved in shaping future proposals for their homes
- provide clear impartial advice to residents on the Council’s:
- proposals
- commitments, and
- offers to residents
- give advice on the statutory legal frameworks relating to housing and regeneration
- support residents in negotiations with the Council
- provide access to specialist financial, legal and property advice
- deliver skills and training so residents can effectively contribute to discussions
- empower residents participation and involvement in the selection of specialist consultants
- provide support in servicing steering group meetings
- ensures all members of the community have a voice and the opportunity to meaningfully engage in the process
