Emergency planning

Working with Partners

Sutton Council meets regularly with other agencies, both Category 1 and Category 2 responders, to ensure that the planning and response to any incident is coordinated effectively.

Borough Resilience Forum

The aim of the Sutton Borough Resilience Forum (BRF) is to coordinate, develop and implement a single forum for the integrated approach to emergency planning, and response to incidents within and around the London Borough of Sutton.

The forum is a multi-agency partnership between category one and two organisations as listed under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, and presents the opportunity for partners to regularly meet to:

  • discuss risks within the borough

  • develop plans for specific risks identified in the borough to ensure a coordinated response between multi-agency partners

  • share best practice with other responders

  • train and exercise as multi-agency partners - members of the BRF participate in at least two exercises per annum

South-West Sub-Regional Resilience Forum

This is the regional version of the BRF and includes additional organisations and emergency planning officers from Sutton, Kingston, Merton, Wandsworth and Richmond, and is the forum for agencies to discuss regional issues, incidents and to collaborate on responding to emergencies.

South-West Emergency Planning Group

Local authority emergency planning teams within Sutton, Kingston, Merton, Wandsworth and Richmond meet on a quarterly basis to discuss planning, incidents that have occurred and opportunities to work together on plans, training and exercises.
