The London Borough of Sutton has an annual procurement spend on goods, works and services of approximately £200M. The Council procures from a wide range of businesses including SMEs and voluntary sector organisations and is keen to encourage a diverse range of suppliers to bid for opportunities.

We aim to ensure that opportunities to work with the Borough are offered fairly and ensure that our procedures are both compliant and transparent. The Council especially welcomes tenders from small businesses and the third sector.

Contract standing orders
The Standing Orders apply to all contracts entered into by the Council for the procurement of goods, works and services. Contract Standing Orders form part of the Council's constitution.

The authority's contracts register is available at the London Tenders Portal.

London Tenders Portal
The Borough has implemented the ProContract e-tendering system. All contract opportunities are advertised through the London Tenders Portal which gives suppliers access to not only our tender opportunities but also those of 17 other London Boroughs. This is a free service which saves time, money, resources and is a simple and speedy process. Once registered, organisations will be sent email alerts when opportunities arise in categories of interest. The portal deals with all aspects of the tender. Frameworks
In the interests of efficiency and economy many common services or supplies are purchased through national and regional consortia framework agreements. The Borough makes will make use of these framework agreements where possible.

Approved list
The Council only maintains an approved list for the provision of construction and related services. All contractors are vetted financially and technically before being included on the list which is maintained on our behalf by Constructionline.
