Waste and Recycling
We will remain in constant communication with our partners, Veolia and Viridor, to ensure the impact on recycling and waste, street cleaning and other key services is kept to a minimum. Any changes that we have to make to these services will be communicated via this webpage and on our social media channels, which will be updated regularly.
Residents should continue to use their recycling and rubbish collection services as normal with the following important exception:
Households that are self isolating should follow the government's 'Stay at home' advice which states:
Store personal waste, such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths, within disposable rubbish bags.
Place these bags into a second bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste.
These bags should be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external general waste bin.
Please do not take this waste to your local Household Reuse and Recycling Centre
Other household waste can be disposed of as normal.
Recycling and waste collections:
All collection services are running as normal.
Please note that disposable paper masks and gloves should not be put in your recycling bins - put them in your general waste bin and tie the bag securely.
- It is more important than ever to ensure that you do everything you can to minimise the amount of waste you produce. Please ensure that recycling is clean, dry and properly sorted. That rubbish bags are all securely tied to prevent spills and help protect our collection teams and the public.

The Household Reuse and Recycling Centre is open. Visits to the site are by appointment only and must be booked in advance.
Make sure you familiarise yourself with the temporary conditions and restrictions at the site before making your booking.
These important changes will help the site run safely and in accordance with government guidelines designed to slow the spread of coronavirus.
Thank you for your donations, with greater demand than usual we are currently finding many of our banks are full. If you do visit and find them full please hold on to your items at home until the bank is cleared. Leaving textiles or any other items on the floor next to recycling banks will be treated as fly tipping.
