The Council is working with businesses and partner organisations to support the reopening of businesses across the borough. Information on this page will be kept up to date as guidance moves on in the next few weeks.

Every business must make sure they are COVID-19 secure and can maintain social distancing before they reopen. These measures are vital to safeguard the safety of your business, staff, customers as well the wider community and will help to restore public confidence in our town centres.

Working safely

Please take the time to review the government guidance to help employers, employees and the self-employed understand how to work safely during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The government has set out five key steps to working safely:

  1. Carry out a COVID-19 risk assessment
  2. Develop cleaning, handwashing and hygiene procedures

  3. Help people to work from home

  4. Maintain 2 metre social distancing, where possible

  5. Where people cannot be 2 metres apart, manage transmission risk

Risk assessments

The Government recommends that businesses and employers carry out a written risk assessment before reopening.

Businesses should also display the ‘Staying COVID-19 Secure in 2020 notice’ in their premises.
